Hullabalu: Hey MARTY!

First, we'd like to welcome Marty Masters to our family! He's cute (in his own way), unique, wide eyed (very!), red and so soft.

Recently I was approached by Hullabalu to pick out and receive a free stuffed animal and then write a review. So the kiddos browsed their large, unique selection of very nice stuffed animals. I especially like that they had "different" animals too, not just the same old puppy, kitty or bears to choose from.

Hullabalu is currently working on their own special inventory of unique plush animals with great characters and fantastical story lines to go with them all. You can take a sneak peek at their store through this special invitation from Hullabalu.

Hey Buddies!!

Check out Hullabalu facebook page and "like" em.

It was fun for the kids to pick him out and make him apart of our ever growing family :)

***this is my very own unbiased opinion regarding Hullabalu and Marty

SIX

He's S-I-X!
Little Big man is S-I-X!

Our dear Adrian had a birthday! Whoohoo!

Our first son.
He's changed me in so many ways... because of him I feel like I'm a better person and a better mother.

Because of him I have more patience :)

Love you Adrian!

His aunt Val brought his cousins Presley and Kaleb to visit and celebrate the big "6" with us.

Look out!

I'm not sure who's more excited... Adrian or dad? John can't wait to see if Adrian takes to snowboarding like he's hoping he will. I guess we'll find out soon since the snow season is right around the corner. I'm slightly nervous and hope we don't have any ER visits in the near future!

We hit up the "germ fest" Chucky Cheese and surprisingly no one ended up sick :)

----------------

ADDENDUM: (added just 7 days after the visit to CC)
WE ARE ALL SICK!! I knew it! I just knew it! We've all had colds and coughs for the last 4 days! A house full of SICK PEOPLE :(
Thanks Chuck! Coincidence?... I think not!

I was not even thinking about a group picture... or else I would NOT have put my whole crew of boys in stripes!! Holy stripes! (and I did not dress John)

-Cousins-

It's so hard to take a good picture with so many little ones.
Cooperation... say what?!?? huh? cheese where?!?

Kaleb showing me his new whiskers and Adrian's got a slight drunk face going on in the background.

Kaleb and his "mini me" Preston-- game on.

Presley was fond of Mason... fond of hugging him, rolling on him, french kissing him and poking his eyeballs. These two were pretty cute!

Fall in Panoramic View

(click on to enlarge)

Adrian was making a fall leaf book for his class assignment, so we took the opportunity to head into the mountains to get his leaves since the leaves in our hood were small and all looked the same.

The trees, the mountains and the fresh air was placid and beautiful. And there were plenty of colored leaves to choose from.

The clouds hid the tops of the mountains.

I have to admit, the falling rock signs all through the mountain roads freak me out a little.

We worked up an appetite and headed to a sleepy little mountain town for a Mexican feast.

Panoramic view... I need some more practice, look at poor Kellen's face and Preston's body. Eek!

Isn't he just yummy?!

We used to take the kids out to eat about once a month (sometimes less :) and that was just to practice good behavior, manors and how to act in a public restaurant. Occasionally it was great and often times not so great. On many of our visits we'd end up leaving with lots of to-go boxes. However, lately we've been going out to eat more and more with the whole gang and in the last month 3 trips in a row have been a success!

Keys to a successful dining experience with lot's of little ones:

  • knowing when to say "let's go"
  • don't push the envelope and take too long
  • take crayons/paper - usually they provide them at most places
  • Ipods or Iphones work for games in times of desperation
  • Don't go at the most busiest times
  • ask for the tab ahead of time - slow servers and antsy kids don't mix!!
(and now that I posted this, I'm certain our next dining experience will be a total bust!)

New Glasses

Whadaya think?

Do I look studious? knowledgeable? like I know what I'm doing and have everything under control? (ya right)
Do I look like I'm organized? accomplished? maybe? maybe not?

I was approached by Firmoo to try out a pair of their glasses and write a blog review. I was very happy to do so! I had just been looking for my glasses the other day and couldn't find them so it was perfect timing. I've worn glasses on and off for many years... some prescription, some for fashion. I think it's always nice to have a pair laying around just in case.

(they make my gym attire look a little brainy)

So after looking at their super easy to navigate website http://www.firmoo.com/. I chose these black rimmed glasses with light blue trim on the inside. I'm always hesitant when ordering things online, but they supplied the measurments so I knew these should be close to the right size.

I have a small face and usually glasses are too big. So it was to my surprise that these ones fit really, really well. And I like them so much I'm going to get another pair in a similar style but different color.

A special thanks to my son Adrian for his photography skills. Not bad for a 5 year old :)

Muwah!

I really like the blue trim... it adds a little touch of color without totally changing the look. And all of the glasses at Firmoo are available with a prescription or just for fashion fun and they have so much to choose from, along with being very affordable... Bonus!

So... here's to looking smarter or seeing better or both.

****they are doing a first time customer free pair promo, it's on hold right now and looks like it should be back on after Oct. 8th

Our First Morph

John + Christa = Adrian

I love seeing our boys grow up, the changes in their looks, how unique they each are and usually I think they look mostly like their father which is great since I think he's pretty darn cute, but sometimes I find little bits of me in them. I'm going to post a morph picture as each of our kids receives their first Kindergarten picture (so next year we'll have the "Preston Morph" :)

John's Kindergarten pic and a picture of me at age 5.

And tah-dah... the mix.
(Adrian looks a little more like me as a child than I previously thought)

Melting Crayons Artwork

Melting Crayons
Inexpensive Artwork for the children's room.

I've been seeing this colorful project all over the place, especially on Pinterest. So we thought we'd give it a try.

Supplies:
Crayons
Glue Gun
Canvas
Blow Dryer
(use a towel behind the canvas in case the blow dryer splatters the melting crayons)

I thought it would be neat to mix and match the sizes, so I broke some crayons in half.

Some of the dollar store crayons don't melt which I thought ended up looking cool mixed in with the Crayola crayons that melted really well.
Pretty awesome artwork, right!
Most importantly...the kids think they have the coolest pictures in their rooms.
