Old Friends, New Friends and lot's of boys!

Melissa and Adam hosted a fun little night while Jeremy and his family stopped in CO. A relaxing night catching up, hanging out and letting all of our 7 boys... age 5 and under play their little hearts out. O-H-I-O represent :)

BIG thanks to Jeremy who introduced us to the Kress's as we were both Ohio natives moving to the Denver burbs in the same month!!

John's a little envious that they have a hoop next to their house.

Karson and Kellen. Double Trouble :) Too smart for their own good at this age.

I think Karson was breaking it down for us. He can rap and dance!

Swinging sweet Blake. And Karson caught a frog in a cup.

Adam turned the pool into a bubbly paradise for the kids.

Aiden and Adrian.

The moms and the dads.

Winding down the night with some toddler Dance Revolution. They did this for over an hour and loved it! Needless to say our kids slept in past 7am for the first time in months. It was much needed for John and I!

What's in his belly (and ours)

Going into almost his 6 month of life, all of the sudden this once lean baby is filling out fast and is so cute! He's really taken to baby food and likes pretty much everything I've made for him so far.

Here's what's on Mason's current menu:

Breakfast: Organic Avocados smashed with Banana and mixed with Organic Gerber Brown Rice.
(will add cooked, pureed lentils in another month or so)
Organic Papaya pureed with Banana and mixed with Organic Wholegrain Gerber Oatmeal.

Lunch/Dinner: Steamed or Baked Pureed Organic Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Carrots, Peas, Apricots, and Peaches. (and I don't peel all of the carrots skin... hello wonderful nutrients!)

In another month I'll be adding on much more and mixing it up a bit to add some variety. Even with child #4 I am still loving making my own baby food! And thanks to John for buying me a new Oster blender (even tho it was for margaritas on Cinco De Mayo :) It came with an awesome small blender attachment that's perfect for pureeing baby food.

On a more mature note, here's what we've been enjoying lately (the boys too!)

Grilling our Veggies is so NUM NUM in the summer!

Our favorites so far: Zuccini, Squash, Red Peppers and Yellow Peppers
I soak the bamboo sticks and the veggies in water first. Then brush on a mixture of Olive Oil and Sea Salt. Then let the grill do its thing. Being careful not to over cook them.

For the boys, I shave the skin off afterwards and cut into cubes and they come back for seconds... yes, of veggies! How exciting for a mom (it's the small things :)

Jump for Joy

I wonder sometimes who's having more fun with the trampoline?
the kids? or us?

Jumping in jammie's.

Haven't attempted a toe touch in over a decade.

The frog and popcorn. The kids love for dad to pop them like popcorn.

He gets some major hang time.

Late night jumping & laughing between sisters when aunt Amy was in town.

10 minutes of jumping makes for some fab cardio.

Counting Polar Bears

The kids love this easy counting game/system.
This was a great find at a garage sale that happened to belong to an ex-preschool teacher. Bonus!

How I use it: I would ask the boys to put 2 Polar Bears playing on the mountain and then 3 Polar Bears swimming in the water. Then I'd ask them how many polar bears were on their picture. I'd switch around the scenarios all while they were learning how to Add and Subtract.

This is super easy to put together:

  • Draw a background, make copies if needed.
  • Bag of Lima Beans (uncooked/hard)
  • Make ears of felt and glue on
  • Black sharpie to draw the face

I'm going to make a new themed one using dry macaroni's as snakes with a grass background and trees)

The boys loved counting these and then played with them for the rest of the day.

Too Short but Sweet

We spent last week catching up with more family in town. We all enjoyed a lovely visit from my aunt Amy and uncle Jeff... We soaked up some good old QT time and definitely packed it all in during their visit.

Red Rocks... a must when in Denver.

Amazing views.

Dude duty... John and Jeff took turns holding Mason.

Who's that dorky tourist person on the right? First time taking my "real" camera to the Rocks.

Dinner downtown in the Mile High City.

This band was the coolest. It takes some talent to play a washboard.

The big boys babysat and the ladies headed out to the wine bar for dinner.

It was a crazy game of Alphabet B-I-N-G-O!

Preston and Mason are great, great buddies.

How many people does it take to put up a giant trampoline? 4... and about 5 hours to spare.
John and Jeff had bloody knuckles from stretching the sides to fit.

Saying good bye to lil M :(

Breckenridge

Memorial weekend we took a little trip to Breckenridge with the kids and our friend Geoff. We stopped at a cute sports bar for some good grub in Dillon, CO. We walked around Breckenridge and had a great day enjoying the sites and stopping for some kiddie activities downtown.

Such a cute, quaint little ski town.

Geoff admiring the scenery.

Adrian, in line for the bungie.

Booyah!

Panning for gold... actually, taking pennies from the statue. They learned why they can't do that.

Trying to be sick...

My body is trying to be sick right now and there's just no time for that and I don't want to make time for it! John seems to be the only one to miss this nasty cold/flu this weekend. Lucky him, sorta. We've been wiping snotty noses 24/7 (grossing me out majorly, even tho I'm a mom of 4, I should be used to it) I'm not.

I don't play the "sick" person very well at all. Maybe it's because I'm the one always taking care of everyone? I don't know how to be sick. I also don't take many naps (maybe 5 a year) and don't like to sit in one spot too long. Maybe my body hates me right now because I was taking a 6am boot camp class 5 mornings a week and still getting up with Mason 3x a night. Working out is my therapy tho, it keeps me sane and gives me the strength to keep up with my brood of boys. But after just 3 weeks of this my body/mind were running on E. Now I'm sitting here this morning doing this... relaxing, catching up on emails, voicemails and blogs, holding a squirmy baby, trying to feel at least 80% again.

With that being said... I still just couldn't spend an entire weekend dedicated to getting well. So I have our babysitter coming at 1 so John and I can organize the garage. Sounds like a good plan, right?!? We've been putting it off for like 6 months now. I can't stand it anymore. It should be a good time! Maybe I'll still be sick enough to just sit in a chair and point to where I want things moved to :)

Preschool Grad Party

Adrian will be heading to kindergarden *tear* next year and Preston will be attending his last year of preschool. They had cake and celebrated at the playground with their teachers and classmates last week. Fun Fun!

Excited to head on into the party at the playground.

Preston and his wonderful teachers.

Adrian's awesome teachers.

He made a sweet school tidied memory t-shirt.

We're ready to enjoy the summer! And I'm sure I'll be ready for school to start again come August :)
