Lot's of Stuff

It's been busy.
Actually, it's always busy, but it was a tad busier than the usual busy routine of a normal week.

'Pa" came to CO.
And he played and played and tired out the kiddos and himself.

Aunt Mikki visited CO.
And played and babysat and cleaned and was a big, big help :)

"the band"

Mason was in heaven with all the attention.

We visited the mountain park.
Heyoooo-- character Kellen!

John's longtime buddy Nick gave us a visit while in town.

Geoff and John rang in Oktoberfest with a 5k & a chug and dash.
Good job boys!

And I got to squeeze in two "date nights" in a row with my good friend Rachael who was in town for work. Good wine, seafood, sushi and lot's of laughs... it was fab!!

Fly that Kite

Creating fun memories.

Adrian had his wee little kite up there for a couple minutes. Pretty exciting for a five year old!

Up... up and nothing.
We had a little hang time but there just wasn't enough wind to make it go very high.

Mik and Adrian taking a break.

We all took our turn trying.

And some of us were a little disappointed.

No, Really?!?!?

The little man who's all of 8 mth and 3 weeks old is walking. I'm definitely not a mom bragger by any means but we're a bit (a lot) shocked at this. All of our kids where the average 11-12 to 13 months old when it came to walking. I was actually hoping Mason would wait until he was about 16 months or so. I mean really, once they start walking things get crazy. And I have to be honest, when I used to hear other moms, grandmas or parents talk about these early walkers at 6, 7 or 8 months, I really thought they just fabricated their stories a little-- everyone's done it.

Now I'm a believer.

And then I started looking up early baby walkers on youtube... wow.

The tiny one's on the go now.
Of course with 3 older bros... how can he not want to join them asap!

We've all got our favorites. These are some of my favorites so far as we piece together our house and make it unique and cozy. I'm really liking the colorful accents in all the boys rooms.

We've been having so much fun melting crayons and turning them into art!
(A post on that in the near future)

This picture for Adrian's room was a Pinterest project done here.

Old and new artwork-- all completed by the kids. What better way to decorate their room then with their own masterpieces?
The hand print picture has all 4 little hands on it -- so sweet!

A nook on our counter filled with mini roses from the backyard.
A favorite-- these fake geen apples. And that bowl used to be pea green... of course I sprayed it black.

true that.

Our dark grey walls are waiting for a row of large black framed pictures with thick white matts that will go above the bed. And our nightstands need those frames filled in.

Other than a pop of color here and there, our living spaces are mostly black, white, beige and various shades of grey. What can I say... when our main choice of decor is Little Tykes, Melissa & Doug, and all those other random toys scattered far and wide throughout the house-- going with some basic colors has helped clean up our space "a little" bit. (yah, a little)

AND.... here's my least favorite space right now. The dreadful TOY ROOM!
I really need to make a trip to Ikea and figure out some better ways to organize this disastrous tornado that the kids re-create on a daily basis!!

Ah yes, a work in progress... always.

Pinterest Inspired

Who doesn't love a good "Pin" idea?

I've been finding a little time lately to be inspired by some Pinterest projects.

I pinned this quote above a long time ago and finally turned it into a picture for Adrian's bedroom. All it took was a thick canvas, acrylic paint, stencils, and a pencil. He thinks it's pretty cool.

If you don't like it... paint it.
If it's ugly... paint it.
If it doesn't match... paint it.
and save some $$
(those are my thoughts as of lately)

Here's a few of the many things I've spray painted recently. John thought I was getting a little obsessed with it. If I want the final look to be shiny I add a layer of Mod Podge to seal in the paint and finish the look.

more spray painting...

Thrift store lamp $10
Spray paint $6
Lamp shade $14

$30 isn't too bad compared to similar ones I looked at that were between $50-$60

So that's what I've been squeezing into a little bit of my spare time lately.

Update: Another Thrift Lamp and New Paint for my Mirror

Lamp was a pretty pea green.
(I like black I guess)

Photo Booth Fun

I was cleaning out my mac and came across some old photo booth pics. I forgot how much Adrian used to get on this and take a million goofy pictures. So much fun!

His first love... mom :)

I'm sure you can guess what he was about to do here... moon the camera perhaps!?!? Little stinker!

Adrian had 100's of these pics on here!!

my shy guy... just for that one split second.

Blonde Bombshell

"Yes, they're all mine... all four of them"

Why yes, even that blonde one over there.

I can't get over how light Kellen's hair still is? It should be darkening up any day now. We joke about the 'switched at birth' possibility?!? Our blue eyed blondie.

And that reindeer... he's mine too :)

Good Sport!
Letting his big brothers dress him up and use him as a prop.

Cookout in the "New Hood"

Our first holiday cookout invite was a success!

We are very lucky to have wonderful, normal, fun, helpful, friendly neighbors in our new hood. And being in a cul-da-sac is the added bonus! Kellen can escape and there is no traffic to worry about. He can go ring the neighbors doorbell and we're assured they'll bring him back. He's just at that age-- we have added hotel locks and alarms to keep him in. He's ornery right now, not sure if I've mentioned that before?!?

Everyone was really good for the 5 hours we were there. Lot's of kids and toys to entertain and some amazing BBQ (that my kids are too picky to touch). So I made them some toddler food to ensure they'd eat something, just in case. If there's one thing I am continuing to learn as a mom of multiple little ones, it's this-- be prepared... always, and I mean for anything!

Along with our regular side dish I took a platter of my special (not really that special actually, but don't tell my kids that!)

PBJ - Banana Burgs
("burgs" just because they look like little burgers in the end)

of course I forgot to take a picture of the finished platter of these... but I thought it was worth sharing with moms of picky eaters out there.

** You can cut them in hearts or stars for something different to change it up, but my cookie cutters were too small. This round thing I used is a "perfect egg" maker thingy. It worked great!
