Going into almost his 6 month of life, all of the sudden this once lean baby is filling out fast and is so cute! He's really taken to baby food and likes pretty much everything I've made for him so far.
Here's what's on Mason's current menu:
Breakfast: Organic Avocados smashed with Banana and mixed with Organic Gerber Brown Rice.
(will add cooked, pureed lentils in another month or so)
Organic Papaya pureed with Banana and mixed with Organic Wholegrain Gerber Oatmeal.
Lunch/Dinner: Steamed or Baked Pureed Organic Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Carrots, Peas, Apricots, and Peaches. (and I don't peel all of the carrots skin... hello wonderful nutrients!)
In another month I'll be adding on much more and mixing it up a bit to add some variety. Even with child #4 I am still loving making my own baby food! And thanks to John for buying me a new Oster blender (even tho it was for margaritas on Cinco De Mayo :) It came with an awesome small blender attachment that's perfect for pureeing baby food.
On a more mature note, here's what we've been enjoying lately (the boys too!)
Grilling our Veggies is so NUM NUM in the summer!
Our favorites so far: Zuccini, Squash, Red Peppers and Yellow Peppers
I soak the bamboo sticks and the veggies in water first. Then brush on a mixture of Olive Oil and Sea Salt. Then let the grill do its thing. Being careful not to over cook them.
For the boys, I shave the skin off afterwards and cut into cubes and they come back for seconds... yes, of veggies! How exciting for a mom (it's the small things :)
