Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Deluxe Electric Juicer - Stainless Steel
Benefits of juicing: Better than packaged juices, great for the environment (less waste, no plastic containers),juicing retains all of the vitamins and nutrients of the original fruit or vegetable, perfect for kids and adults who are picky veggie eaters, your consuming densely packed amount of vitamins, minerals and other plant-based nutrients. Who really eats 5-6 servings of veggies or has the time to??
It's great because John and the kids are into it. I have to admit John is WAY better at it than I am. His concoctions almost always taste great... mine on the other hand, not so much. I'm a work in progress :) Our goal is to juice once a day and it's been going very well. It's perfect timing because since I've been past my first trimester, I am FORCING myself to eat veggies, they taste awful to me right now, like poison!
Just a phase in my pregnancy I suppose.
So if you follow this blog at all, you know that I have been trying to make subtle "green living" changes. A little here, a little there...Here's a recap:
reusable bags for groceries and shopping (now if I could remember to take them out of the van every time :)
We headed an hour away to go watch my brother's softball game. Preston and Kellen loved it, but poor Adrian fell asleep on the way to the game and would not wake up to watch it. Then of course he was so upset on the way home that he missed it!
The kids behaved pretty well except one incidence of the duo running onto the field through a side fence entrance, (that we were sitting right next to) That was a "duh mom" moment, I should have known that would happen.
Uncle Justin and Kellen
Here's my dad realizing how good a toddler can be for talking to chicks... LOL. As usual Kellen B-lined straight for these women the minute we turned our head. They Awwed and Oooed over him.
I might let dad take him on a grocery shopping trip sometime :)
Grandma Julia sitting in the shade trying to stay cool.
We're excited to share the news of another baby!!! The new baby will arrive in January. We feel lucky and blessed beyond measure! The boys are so excited to be getting a new little brother or sister. Adrian says that the baby will crack out of my belly after Christmas time and he's excited to hold him or her. Preston and Kellen think they have babies in their bellies too :) It's pretty cute!
We will be waiting until the arrival of our blessed little peanut to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. Just in case this is our last baby, this will be exciting to wait this time. There's not that many suprises of this magnitude in our lifetime and we'd really like to experience this one! Of course the odds of us having another little boy are pretty high given our track record. :o)
as long as we are blessed with a healthy baby we would be so grateful!
12 weeks 4 days
there's the thumb sucker below.
At the family cook-out this past weekend is when we made our announcement to the family. We had made a picture book of our boys along with pictures all of grandma Julia's great grand children and on the very last page was an ultrasound picture of the new baby that read "Coming in January"
grandma checking out her new book
John was preparing the camera for the turn of the last page... almost there...
and... "The Reactions" it's always fun to share such exciting news with our family.
It never get's old :) even the fourth time!
My mother in-laws face might be the most priceless picture I've seen in a long time!
The boys singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Well, actually it was pretty much Adrian and I singing the song with very little help from hisbros! The two littlest people were not into it at all! They were really only into rolling on the couch and being their usual nutty selves :o) and showing off for the camera.
There's this blog The Pleated Poppy and Lindsey the author/owner has this every Wednesday post called "What I Wore Wednesday" It's cute and fun and I think the point is to inspire others (especially stay at home moms) to get out of the easily sunken into routine of comfy sweats, wife beater tanks, hoodies, yoga pants, and our pajamas... my personal fav! It's inspiration to get into our closets and put together some cute outfits, think out of the box, dress up, look cute, do our hair and makeup if we so desire.
It really does make a big difference in my mood/outlook/confidence... the days I shower and put on some makeup and do my hair vs. the days where it might have been a while since my last shower (gross, ya but with 3 toddlers it happens sometimes) and me in my favorite skanky sweat pants, the ones that John will burn eventually! (I just know it!)
A ton of people link up to Lindsey's Wednesday posts... not me, I never remember to take a pic of my outfit on that one Wednesday per month I happen to look put together. I will instead post my "What I Wore Saturday" outfit since I got a lot of compliments on it and was proud that I put it together all on my own and it wasn't black, grey or white. I'm getting more color in my life & closet :)
dress - Gabriel Brothers 12.99 (I LOVE a good steal deal)
belt - Khols $20.00 (I've learned how important a good go-to belt is!)
shoes - Forever21 Vegas $4.99 (i had blk heels on but changed last minute, I hate heels)
necklace - grandma Julia's bag of goodies(probably $2.00 at a thrift store)
So John and I got dressed up, this happens about 8x a year. It was for a wedding, a beautiful outside wedding, a really hot wedding, and we melted all the way through the 25 minute ceremony :) it was very pretty tho!
After being sick for what seemed like forever, it felt good to play dress up and have a date night with my husband!
This patriotic, fun, grateful, long holiday weekend hasn't turned out like I had planned. Who gets food poisoning 2x in 6 weeks... I DO! Some people are more susceptible than others and I happen to be one of those people I guess, lucky me! This has been the longest 6 days, yes 6 dreadful days, not just 24 hrs this time. Complete with 2 ER visits for dehydration and meds, after my 2nd trip I actually believe I am on the upswing to recovering finally...! I don't have time to be sick, who does?!
I've missed so much in 6 days... play dates, John's 5k run this weekend, the Balloon Festival, a carnival and our date night Saturday :(
However, I think I might be up for seeing the fireworks tonight, I hope!
This past week, before I fell super ill I managed along with the help of our lovely Courtney to meet up with some fun moms and their cool kids for a trip to the carousel and this beautiful garden/park for a picnic. It was a perfect sunny, blue sky day, the kids ran around like wild animals and had a blast!
Day #5 I was so sick of the poor kids being stuck in the house or in our own back yard I was hell bent on going to the park! So I rolled out of bed with my best jammies on and John took us all to the park at 8:30 am. I felt better, not physically, but emotionally/mentally just seeing the kids enjoying the new scenery and having some fun.
Forced half a smile, glasses big enough to hide dark circles from 5 sleepless nights in a row, I was taking one for the team. I know... it looks I need to eat a burger or 10! Being a small person to begin with, losing 6lbs while sick is just awful!! reminds me of being in junior high and drinking tons of protein shakes so I could try to fill out the butt in my jeans... and when that didn't work there were always layered boxer shorts that would temporarily do the trick :) For the record, I don't miss jr. high or high school much.
love these boys to pieces! they are all so lucky to have each other.
John and Adrian's biking adventure.
I hope everyone is enjoying and celebrating this Independence Day how you wish!
