Adrian: It's a Date!

Today, I got the pleasure of taking Adrian and his little girlfriend to the library and out for a lunch date. They were so cute together! They had a blast and were so adult-like and very well behaved. They are very lucky to have each other and we are so blessed and happy that they do!

I had three people ask me if they were twins :)

Summertime, Sunscreen... Green & EWG

I'm not a full fledged green person, I'd love to be, but I think it'd be so hard. I try where I can, little things here and there... we take our own bags to the grocery (btw I found super cute ones at Sally's Beauty Supply for $1 - they change the patterns every cpl mths) and we recycle lots of things. I'm buying less junk and preservative filled foods. I buy organic sometimes when it's feasible and will use our local farmers market for the entire time it's open this coming farming season. So I've been slowly leaning towards the "better" choices for my family and our environment.

I'm making an effort to be more conscious about what's surrounding my kids. On their skin and in their bellies. Our lotions, sunscreens, shampoo, food, toothpaste... all that jazz.

There's this wonderful site EWG: Environmental Working Group. It finds the best products for you, your kids and our environment. You can find anything from skincare, eye care, water info, pesticide guidelines, cosmetics, and the latest envirionmental news.

random internet picture john and I at the beach today :) then I woke up...

It's almost that time of year again... if our sun would just stay out for more than two days in a row here in the northeastern parts! Here's where I went to find the SkinDeep portion of the website to look up the best sunscreens for our little boo's.  I found out that the sunscreen I was using for myself and the kids a couple years ago was bad stuff. Not shocked about this at all. I started getting the better stuff last year (on ebay), less chemicals, a more natural sunscreen, and yes it takes a tiny bit longer for the skin to absorb, no big deal! Below is what we are working with right now and I like em a lot!

Here's the link to last years EWG 2010 Sunscreen safety guide, you can search and find any sunscreen and see where it rates on the list of best and worst for your health.

I think it'd be unbelievably hard to change everything to meet certain safety standards from EWG and to live totally green, but it's worth a shot to start slowly. And I would never hate on those that don't, this is just a personal preference and goal of mine.
I'd love to pass these ideas and better habits on to my children!

Easter Weekend & beads booyah

It was a great Easter weekend! We had a lovely family dinner at my aunt Amy and uncle Jeff's and of course I forgot my camera. John makes fun and tells me that I can't take pictures of everything and catch allll of it, allll the time. Oh, but I will certainly try sir!

Here are the kids following the path of eggs that are leading them to their hidden Easter baskets. This was John's favorite Easter memory, his parents would hide their baskets when they were little and he said he had so much fun searching for it... so we continue the tradition :) And the kids of course loved it too!

Seriously... Kellen's facial expressions are absolutely priceless here as he's finding these eggs!
 what a nut!

and the bunny brought lots of goodies

and we relaxed

and then we made some bracelets for the Craft Hope Project. Preston was so into it.
He's so much like his mom!

Adrian's photography skills are pretty good for a 4 yr old.

the project doesn't end until June, so we'll shoot to make 10 or 15 more by then.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and spent it with loved ones enjoying the blessed day!

Craft Hope: Bracelets

My friend Anna who sews a lot, turned me onto this website Craft Hope. They do all sorts of different "crafty good cause" projects and not all of them require sewing (thank goodness, since I can't sew a lick... yet!) this next project is right up my alley. I used to love to make bracelets back in the day.
It's been far too long since we've completed a project for Craft Hope, this last one was almost a year ago for the Oil Spill Relief. (and required no sewing from me :)

This one will be fun to get the kids involved in, they will love to string some beads! The bracelets that are made will be given to orphans in Russia.

So if you've got a big heart and a couple minutes...

details here: http://crafthope.com/

The deadline for this project is June 15, 2011

Please mail completed bracelets to:

I was a private blogger for a long time. I changed that up a couple months ago, started blogging publicly, and have met so many great people this way! A BIG OLE thanks to those who follow, comment and share back with me... it's really been a lot of fun!!

Vegas Baby!

Viva Las Vegas... oh no this place is definitely not a reality I have ever seen, but I suppose that's why people go there, to experience something other than the normal reality of everyday life, it's called a vacation. Another wife (Anna) and I tagged along with the guys for a work function. It was my first time and I think I could have just sat on a bench and people watched for days... highly interesting and fun.

We ate the best food ever, ever-- 4 days of excellent food, we are now spoiled of fine foods. We gambled and I have fallen in love with Roulette. I was rather conservative most of the time, but definitely should have left while I was very much ahead a couple times. I didn't do too bad though and did not lose it all in Vegas... so that's good! However, John did lose all his in Vegas :(

It was the first time we've both been gone together from all 3 boys. I missed them tremendously! When we got home I swore that Kellen grew an inch... and gained 2 lbs. Kellen was the only one awake and could not stop smiling at us as we strolled in at 8am from a very bumpy, tiring red eye flight. My first one, and maybe my last one :) For those who can sleep on a plane and sleep through anything, that flight was probably perfect. John didn't sleep for a second and I slept for about an hour, in 10 minute increments. We'll be taking turns catching up on sleep and life this weekend.

Our first hour in Vegas... relaxing pool side with Margarita's and Pina Colada's... YUM!

Proud of my totally unplanned day/evening pics of New York, New York.

"The Hangover" guys.

The Bellagio Botanical Gardens were unbelievably beautiful. It was so bright and like a breath of fresh air after being in the dark cold casino's.

my post card pic

another one of my post card pics :) the sky was surreal.

While the boys attended their conference, it was mostly Anna and I doing our site seeing... that would explain the lack of pics of John and cool characters.

Best places we ate in Vegas: Craft Steak (all fab!!), Burger Bar (great burgers and the best salmon burger ever), Border Grill (fabulous ahi tuna tacos w/ mango salsa), Wolfgang Puck Pizzaria & Cucina (egg plant parm - amazing!).

It was in fact a wonderful vacation and we look forward to going again someday!

Pseudo Twins

I bet Preston and Kellen will be sharing clothes by the end of the summer. Only a couple inches and about 15 months separate these two little bros.

Somebody was a little grumpy.

Kellen, Adrian and Preston

My all time favorite picture... for now, this month :)
I love how they are all interacting with each other here. They're such amazing little men!!

I don't know what we'll do when we don't have a big picture window to stare out of someday. The boys sit here and play probably 50% of the time.

Stress... Yoga... Einstein

Here we are... 8 weeks strong so far. I am very happy to report that I'm still loving yoga. I know that everyone that breathes can relate-- things can get stressful, life happens.. sometimes at a pace that we can't always keep up with. Sometimes mentally, emotionally and physically, we find ourselves hanging on by a thread. And I'm not saying always, just sometimes, it's the nature of this crazy world we live in. And it's these times that really call for a personal outlet. A couple months ago I noticed I wasn't really taking the time to do something just for myself. Yoga has full filled that empty outlet. It's all of these things wrapped up into 80 minutes a week... Relaxing, Challenging, Fab Workout, and most importantly it's very Therapeutic!

what amazing strength- definitely NOT a move I can do... :) or ever will do. but they're fun to look at.

Yoga class often makes me think about things I wouldn't normally make the time to reflect on. I'd have to thank the yoga instructor for that one. She spurts off lots of quotes and random musings during class. It's lovely and thought provoking!
google images - I had to put this up... it's cutest baby Einstein ever!

Little Man with BIG Dreams

I'm pretty sure that Preston really thought he could ride his scooter. But sometimes I have to question whether or not he does some of these hilarious things on purpose... as if he know that it makes us die laughing :)
I was lucky enough to catch this one on camera.

bless his tiny heart :) giving up after about 6 tries
